Dr. Kaku’s comments in the video below concerning Los Alamos and Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant are important for two reasons:
- He explains the unfolding events in terms the public can understand.
- He also explains that these are worse case but unlikely scenarios.

We still have to ask why no efforts are being made at Fort Calhoun to erect a levee around the control building and other safety related buildings. This would allow the water to be pumped out and eliminate the “worst case” scenario outlined by Dr. Kaku.
Since the water levels are expected to keep rising and will not subside for at least two months, what is the government’s plan for both Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant and Cooper Nuclear Station? The Army Corps of Engineers has acknowledged that they are not concerned with the fate of the nuclear plants in conjunction with the historic releases of water from the six dams on the Missouri River. The chairman of the NRC announced a ten mile mandatory evacuation surrounding Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant and then left after returning the life jacket that plant officials gave him. Congress is not initiating any investigations and our president is on a 4th of July vacation. The no fly restriction over this plant is still in effect.
